ABOUT

Most writers are also voracious readers.  In middle school,  while my classmates were focused on typical childhood pastimes like sports or pretending not to like boys, I was devouring novels, poetry, and memoirs. Instead of watching television, I've spent my adult years bent over the pages of books, making lifelong friends with the characters and escaping to the places described in rich metaphors by favorite authors.

As a teenager, I dreamed of writing for a travel magazine. After my first year of college, I changed my major from Mass Communications to Special Education, pursuing another passion for teaching and helping others. For twenty-five years, I taught writing to my own homeschooled children along with a hundred other homeschooled high schoolers in my community. While teaching writing and literature was rewarding, I have found immeasurable joy in retirement as I have finally begun publishing my creative nonfiction work in literary magazines. A memoir is also in the works, and I'm enjoying experimenting with craft and form in several genres.
